Paris Photo 2021: Grand Palais Éphémère • Stand D24

We are absolutely delighted to be returning to Paris Photo 2021 after our forced absence from art fairs - but especially Paris Photo which we have participated in for the past twenty-four editions. The fair means a lot to all of us in the photography community, so it is with great pleasure we return with what we hope will be a memorable event. Coming together under the banner of ParisPhoto is a great opportunity for us to present photographs which we feel will enliven and entertain but also to inform and advance the tradition of this fascinating medium forward.

 

Our stand this year will represent some old and some new; much of it will be seen for the very first time.

 

Whilst artists such as Nobuyoshi Araki and Tim Walker will need no introduction, others who will accompany us such as Tetsuya Ichimura, Siân Davey, Eamonn Doyle and Akira Sato will show works that are less well known and, in some cases, their first outing publicly. This always energises us as we are so excited to see your reactions to new, rare and unseen works.

 

We believe that photographs should be made and not simply taken. In this light, we are very proud that almost every work on our stand was actually made by the artists themselves. Eamonn Doyle spent the summer making 100 silver gelatin prints, some of which will grace our walls. Sian Davey spent the summer building a garden of Eden near her home for passers-by to pose and perform in whilst she turned her 10x8 camera on them, creating some of the most beautiful portraits we have seen. Be prepared to be amazed by her insightfulness!

 

Our passion for Japanese photography will be very well represented by many of the greats and some unknown from Masatoshi Naito, Daido Moriyama, Miyako Ishiuchi, Akira Sato and Eikoh Hosoe, all of whom take great pride in their darkroom skills which will be plainly evident from their peerless prints.
