This extraordinary and unique collection of original postcards, document the discoveries of Mrs. Merryman between 1937 and 1980. An avid collector, with an eye for the unusual, the images Mrs. Merryman has chosen to keep, are at odds with what we might imagine of a conventional 1930's travel memento. The images are in some cases other worldly and surreal, many seemingly inconsequential to travel or location. They offer us what appears to be a through- the- key- hole perspective of a fleeting moment in time or a distinctly personal memory. Mrs Merryman herself never traveled, which makes her collection all the more intriguing and gives us an insight into the life and mind of woman with a peculiar sense of humor and a sharp eye for the unusual and perhaps a longing for adventure.
